Inauguration by His Holiness Sakya Trizin
His Holiness officially blessed the Institute to be now used for Nuns' philosophical training.
Vision 2010 Onwards
100 Nuns to be trained
Based on available funds, about 25 outstanding nuns have been chosen from among many applicants to become the first cohort of students. As His Holiness has said "Buddhist philosophical texts are very deep and profound. In order to understand them, thorough study is required. Therefore, the establishment of a nuns' college is very important."
On the Board
His Holiness the Sakya Trizin is directly in charge of the College, assisted by Venerable Khenpo Gyatso, who has worked very hard to establish the institution. The Principal of the College is the learned nun Acharya Ani Dechen Wangmo, and Venerable Khenpo Jampa Khedup is Abbot.
Nuns are trained for about 10 years to become qualified Dharma teachers (equivalent of female Khenpo) for the next generation.
